Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19/02/2026
The developer of Pace It (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the Pace It application (“this app”).
Pace It (“the App”) is designed to help you understand your running performance. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices and rights.
By using this app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
Data Collection and Use
Health Data Usage
Pace It integrates with Apple Health (HealthKit) on iPhone and Apple Watch to provide its core functionality such as running insights and performance analytics. Access to Apple Health data requires your explicit permission. Pace It cannot display your runs or generate training-related insights without this access.
You may grant or revoke permission at any time in your device settings.
HealthKit data is processed locally on your device. It is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with third parties except where you explicitly request a third-party integration (such as exporting workouts to Strava).
With your permission, we access the following data types for the purposes described below.
Workouts & Activity
- Workouts: Used to display your run history, analyse performance trends, and calculate weekly streaks.
- Distance (Running, walking and workouts): Used to calculate pace, total training load, weekly/monthly mileage and distance-based trends.
- Steps: Used to estimate cadence, detect running cadence trends and provide additional context for daily activity.
- Active Duration / Exercise Time: Used to show you how much active time you accumulate per day and to help interpret training load.
- Speed (Running workouts): Used to calculate pace, compare improvements over time, and estimate race performance.
- Cadence: Used to track running cadence (steps per minute) and evaluate efficiency.
- Running Dynamics: On supported devices, we may also access stride length, vertical oscillation, ground contact time, and running power to help you understand your running form.
Heart Rate & Recovery
- Heart Rate: Used to display intensity zones and compare pace at similar effort levels.
- Resting Heart Rate: Used as a baseline for personalised heart-rate zones.
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Used as part of your daily Readiness score to help reflect recovery status.
- VO2 Max: Used to show long-term cardiovascular fitness and estimated race performance.
Energy & Metabolism
- Active Energy: Used to show calories burned during runs.
- Body Measurements (height, weight, sex, date of birth): Used only to calculate personalised estimates such as calorie expenditure and training zones. These details are not shared.
Location & Route Data
- Workout Routes: Used to display route maps, analyse segments, and calculate metrics such as grade-adjusted pace. Workout route data may be recorded during running workouts on iPhone or Apple Watch and is stored in Apple Health. We do not access or track your live location outside of workout route data provided by Apple Health.
Sleep
- Sleep Analysis: Used to incorporate your rest and recovery into your training insights.
We do not:
- Write any data to HealthKit
- Share HealthKit data with third parties
- Use HealthKit data for marketing, advertising, or profiling
- Send HealthKit data to external servers
- Access HealthKit data without your explicit permission
All processing of HealthKit data happens locally on your device. You may revoke permissions at any time in: Settings -> Health -> Data Access & Devices -> Pace It
Third-Party Integrations
Pace It allows you to connect to third-party services such as Strava. Additional integrations (such as Garmin Connect) may be supported in future versions.
If you choose to connect a third-party service:
- You explicitly authorise Pace It to transmit selected workout data to that service
- Only the data necessary to perform the requested sync (e.g., workout activity details such as distance, duration, pace, heart rate and route data) is transmitted
- Data is sent directly from your device to the third-party service using secure APIs
We do not:
- Sell or monetise your data
- Share your data with third parties for advertising or profiling
- Store third-party account passwords on external servers
Third-party services process your data according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies before connecting your account.
You may disconnect third-party integrations at any time within the app.
Other Data We Collect
- Basic, anonymised usage analytics (e.g., app interactions, feature usage, crash diagnostics)
- Optional contact information you provide when joining TestFlight or contacting support. We do not combine email addresses with HealthKit data.
Analytics
We use a third-party analytics service to help us understand how the App is used and to improve its performance and functionality:
- PostHog SDK: Purpose of use: to collect anonymised usage analytics such as app interactions, feature usage, session data, device and app information (e.g. device model, operating system, app version), timestamps, and approximate location (such as city, country and coarse coordinates derived from IP address). This data is used to analyse app usage, diagnose issues, resolve bugs and prioritise feature improvements to improve the app. PostHog processes this data on our behalf in accordance with its privacy policy, which can be found at: https://posthog.com/privacy
This data is not used for advertising, marketing, or tracking users across apps or websites, or to personally identify users. We are committed to not showing third-party in-app advertising and analytics data is never combined with HealthKit data.
You can disable analytics collection at any time in your device settings.
Email Addresses
If you provide your email (e.g., during TestFlight), we use it only to contact you regarding the app. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in informing users about the app and its development.
For users in the EU, we comply with GDPR requirements. By providing your email, you give explicit consent for us to process it as described.
You may withdraw consent or request deletion by contacting us at: support@paceit.app
Data Storage & Security
- All processing of sensitive data is local to your device.
- We do not retain HealthKit data on external servers.
- If you disconnect a third-party integration (e.g., Strava), Pace It will no longer transmit data to that service. Any data previously transferred will remain subject to that service's privacy policy.
- Anonymous analytics data collected via PostHog is retained only for as long as necessary to improve the app and diagnose issues.
- If you choose to use iCloud, some app settings may sync through your personal iCloud account.
- We take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Your Rights
You may:
- Delete all app data by uninstalling Pace It
- Revoke HealthKit access at any time
- Opt out of analytics via your device settings
- Request deletion of any personal data you have provided (e.g., your email)
- Contact us for clarification at: support@paceit.app

Changes To This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for updates.
Changes become effective once posted. Continued use of the app after changes take effect indicates acceptance.
We will not add new categories of personal data collection without your explicit consent.

We make no guarantees regarding the suitability or accuracy of the App. We may modify or discontinue the App at any time. We are not responsible for loss of data or device issues arising from use of the App.
